2019 Fall AWS State Meeting

November 1st-3rd at Cane Creek Preserve


Our fall meeting will be at Cane Creek Preserve the weekend of November 1st, 2nd and 3rd (there are no football games that weekend). Leon Bates will lead our hike. Leon is a former botanist with TVA and Urban Forester for the City of Florence. He is active in The Wild Ones, the Native Plant Society of Tennessee. He is also one of the leaders at the Wildflower Pilgrimage in Gatlinburg. Our speaker will be Patrick Thompson with the Alabama Plant Conservation Alliance of the Donald E. Davis Arboretum. He also worked for Auburn University. He will be speaking on the conservation of the Georgia aster which is in decline.

We have a block of rooms at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham, located at 1852 Highway 72 East, Tuscumbia, Al 35674, 256-248-0055. We have 10 double queen rooms ($80.00 + tax) and 5 single queen rooms ($75.00 + tax). Cut-off date is October 25, 2019. Please let them know you are with the Alabama Wildflower Society. The dinner will be at Coldwater Mill restaurant at 6:00 P.M. We will be ordering from the menu. Anne will have copies of the menu at the front desk when you check in.
